Prince William and Kate Middleton announced today that they are getting married, after an eight year courtship.The wedding will take place in spring/summer next year. Cue an enslaught of speculation on the venue, cake, guests and, of course, the dress until then.
William, the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, presented Kate with his late mother's engagement ring, a beautiful oval blue 18-karat sapphire and diamond sparkler.
"It is very special to me. It was my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today and the excitement that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together," said William.
