When Kate Moss posed for Balmain's A/W ad campaign, all wasn't what it seemed. While she posed in a variety of positions on a leather couch, photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin set up a series of hidden cameras to capture the super on film. And it didn't end there - add a spooky soundtrack and some crazy animation consisting of cartoon snakes and scary hands, and you've got yourself one seriously atmospheric video.
Inez said of the project: "Surrealism is always there in our work, whether it's in camera or through computer manipulation. We’ve had the idea for this video for some time. We are fascinated with the different realities going on in one shoot and so the music, the animation, Kate’s movements and the camera angle represent these layers of perception. We talked to (artist Jo Ratcliffe) about it being half horror and half Disney. It ranges from a sinewy heavy metal feel to a much cuter place."
